Why does my connected bank account keep disconnecting?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Sometimes, your linked bank account may disconnect. Here’s why—and how to fix it fast.

Why your bank account may disconnect

  • Your login credentials changed
If you’ve updated your username or password at your bank, you’ll need to reconnect it in the Atlas app.
What to do: Log in to your bank’s website to confirm your login, then reconnect in the Atlas app.

  • Your bank requires action
Some banks may require you to agree to new terms, update security settings, or complete other steps.
What to do: Log in to your online banking portal to check for alerts or pending actions.

  • Plaid is temporarily down
Atlas uses a secure partner, Plaid, to link your accounts. If they’re having technical issues, the connection may drop.
What to do: Try again later—these issues are usually resolved quickly.

How to fix it

Tap the Reconnect button in the Atlas app. Most connections take less than a minute to restore.

Keep in mind: Bank accounts must be in your name. Linking an account under someone else’s name can result in restrictions.

Good to know

  • You can link up to 2 bank accounts with Atlas.

  • Payroll users (with at least one payroll deposit) can link up to 4 accounts.

  • Still stuck? Chat with Support in the app—we’re happy to help.
