What are the benefits of reporting your rent payments?
Adding your rent payments to your credit report can help improve your credit score. It also helps mix up your credit types, which is good for your credit. If you don’t have a credit score yet, reporting your rent payments can help you start building one.
Will my rental payments affect my credit score?
Yes! Atlas Rent Reporting can help you improve your credit score by adding positive payments to your credit report. If you don’t have a credit score, reporting your rent can help you build one.
Will Atlas Rent Reporting hurt my credit?
No, Atlas reports your on-time rent payments. If your credit score drops after starting with us (and nothing else has changed), it’s normal. Adding a new credit line can make your credit score go up and down a bit at first. But as time goes on and more rent payments are added, your credit score should get better.
Will a late or missed rent payment lower my score?
Credit bureaus only count rent payments as late if they're 30 days late. For example, if your rent is due by the 15th, and you pay before the 14th of the next month, it’s still considered on time. If you miss a payment for one month, we won’t report anything for that month. But, if you miss payments for 90 days straight, we will close your Atlas rent report so it doesn’t hurt your credit score.
