Benefits and Impact

  1. What are the benefits of reporting your rent payments? Adding a rental line to your credit report can help diversify your credit mix and can improve your credit score. If you don't have a credit score yet, reporting your rent can help you build one.

  2. Will my rental payments affect my credit score? Yes, Atlas Rent Reporting can help you build your credit score by adding a positive payment history to your report. This can also improve your existing score. If you don't have a credit score yet, reporting your rent payments can help you start building one.

  3. Will Atlas Rent Reporting harm my credit? Atlas shares your timely rent payments with credit bureaus. If your credit score goes down after starting with us (presuming no other financial changes), remember that scores often vary when a new line is added to your credit report because it affects the average age of all your credit accounts. As the rental line gets older and more rent payments are recorded, your credit score should benefit overall.

  4. Will a late or missed rent payment lower my score? Credit bureaus only consider rent payments late if they're 30 days past due. Suppose your rent is due by the 15th each month. If you pay before the 14th of the next month, we'll count it as an on-time payment. If a rent payment is missing for a month, Atlas won't report any rent data for that month. But, if we don't see a payment for 90 days in a row, we will close your Atlas rental trade line so that it doesn’t impact your credit score adversely.

Atlas Rent Reporting can help you build your credit score by adding a positive payment history to your report.
